I'm going to be in the Norfolk area for 3-4 days for a conference end of march.  Looking for ideas for salt and fresh water fly fishing.  Can take my inflatable kayak if needed, but would prefer to rent a boat or shore fish/wade.  Has anyone fished from the Town Point Park right in Norfolk (walking dist from hotel)?

Peter,

That is my home town area. Unfortunately there won't be much salt water action available this early in the season. Town Point park is very urban and the water in the Elizabeth there is pretty nasty. I would look at taking a 'yak to the power plant discharge area upstream a couple miles at the "high rise" bridge (I-64) There are always some nice Speckled Trout in there during cold weather. Check out the message boards at Pirates of the Lynnhaven.

Tight lines!

Dave

Give a FB message to Cory Routh. He's got the scoop for down there.
