Winter Trout rivers/streams

What are some great day trips for trout from DC in Virginia?

Any pointers appreciated.  Have a great Christmas and New Years.

Disclaimer: Personal Opinion. Others likely to disagree. 

Dry River, Mossy Creek, Beaver Creek in VA. Gunpowder and Beaver Creek in MD. Ultimately, I think the best winter trout fishing close to DC though is south central PA (big spring, letort, falling springs, etc). Basically, I'd suggest focusing on thermally stable waters like tailwaters or spring creeks this time of year.

I fished Beaver Creek in VA on Monday.  Water is low but fishing well.  You fo have to go to Grocery 257 early to get one of the 4 daily permits.  It is a 2 1/2 hr drive from Woodbridge, VA
