My wife and I spent the Memorial Day weekend in a cabin on the Savage River.  I always love going out there and this weekend was quite nice.  We rented a cabin from Mike and Suzanne at Savage River Outfitters and had a wonderful time.  The cabin is right in the middle of the tailwater, and Mike has a fly shop on sight.  We stayed in the smallest cabin (The Brookie).  The cabin was has pretty much everything you need for a comfortable stay.  The Savage was fishing ok, usually better later in the day but could use a little higher flows.  We caught browns, brook trout and a rainbow.  I also caught my first fish on a Tenkara rod.  We also went canoeing on the resevoir which offers a slew of other species.  I hooked up with a nice largemouth and a few black crappie.  Then, on Monday, we drove over to North Branch and my wife caught her first rainbow.  Due to low water levels, we decided not to fish the many brook trout streams in the area.

All in all it was a great fishing and relaxing weekend.  I would highly recommend staying here if your going with a spouse, don't want to rough it, and looking for lots of fishing options as well as canoeing/kayaking or hiking.  Its all within 10-15 minutes of the cabin with the Savage right out the back door.  Be sure to take a sink tip/sinking line for the reservior though, it gets deep fast.

Nice pics. That's very nice part of Maryland. Given enough time,  "if your going with a spouse" will equal "don't want to rough it"  ;-)

The savage is a river I wish I were able to fish more.  Good report --
