Just returned from 3 days of fantastic fishing for salmon on the Salmon River, NY.  After 2 lean years of very few salmon returning from Lake Ontario this year the river is full of King and Coho Salmon.  Although the salmon are spread out throughout the length of the river we spent most of our time fishing the upper FFO section of the river where we found it less crowded but plenty of fish.  If you plan to go now is the time to be there while the salmon are still fresh.

How was the water level? I'm hoping that Nate will help us out down here.

I second tugf's comments, . . . I was also in Pulaski this past week (Wednesday, 10/04 - Saturday, 10/07) and the fishing was fantastic! I believe the water flow was around 400cfs, which was enough to fill the smaller connecting streams to about 1-2 feet (plenty of fish everywhere). There was also a bit of rainfall over the weekend and into the beginning of this week, so I believe the river is currently around 500-600cfs. In addition to several kings, I was also able to land a nice coho. While heading out of Altmar Saturday afternoon, I stopped by Malinda's to pick up some fly tying supplies; she said she had just received a report that steelhead were beginning to enter the river near the mouth of the lake.

And I'm in a cubicle, jealous as all get up. Big congrats, Tom and Mark!
