Gang,

Headed to a friend's house on a tidal creek near White Stone, VA for the week, and will have kayak and SUP access - I'm pretty excited.

The creek has provided some good times on schoolies in the fall in the past, though I've never fished it this time of year and. I plan to fish the creek mouth and points within on a moving tide/dawn/dusk, but intel y'all may have regarding fly size and tactics would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Throw large streamers and Clouser-type flies for Alligator Gar. There’s success to be had fly fishing from a kayak or SUP off the points and deeper pools near seedbeds.

I used to fish in that area a couple times a year.

Find some grass (SAV) or bait and fish shallow. I like to be in the 1.5 - 4 foot range. There are some really nice ones in Fleet's Bay or off windmill point. Another bottom structure to look for is scattered shell. Finding a bottom like that with some grass nearby is always a good spot.

Should be a bunch of stripers around with some specks starting to show too. I wouldn't expect too many reds yet. I know some overslots have been caught further south but it's not really a boom year for them this year.

I have had a lot fun focusing on those grass flats in that areas with bob's bangers.

Very belated post, but fishing was solid. All the achoolies a guy could want and a few bigger boys. Hit dock lights on the creek at night from the paddleboard and had a hoot sight fishing.

I have no Intel to offer on the northern neck but I've been on the lookout for another kayak fly Fisher to shuttle vehicles with. I throw my kayak in the bed of the truck and have room for another on the roof rack, also have an open slot in the rod vault if you don't want to break it down
