Hello,

Me and some friends are trying to plan a trip up to the Erie area to chase some steelies.  Ive only been up there a few times last year, so by no means an expert.  Im not sure if its allowed to be posted on here, but if any one has any locations to fish or any local shops youd recommend calling.
Thanks,

Daniel Erickson

I grew up there and have already fished it once this year. Try 20 mile creek if it isn't too crowded.. you can walk to the lake and have pretty good river access from the parking lot. You can also try to fish from the shore into the lake right in front of the mouth which has produced in the past.

I grew up there as well. I prefer Cattaraugus creek. It’s a bit further drive but the fishing access is great on the Seneca Indian reservation. Because the land is is owned by the Seneca Nation, it is not posted and is very accesable. There is 12 or 14 miles of river that fall within the reservation. You can by a licence on the the reservation and there is no need for a New York State license. I bought my license at the gas station located on the corner of RT20 and 438 on the Reservation.  If you call the Orvis shop in Williamsville they will give you an up to date report.  Here are a couple of links that may help:

My husband and I just moved to D.C. from Erie, PA.

Try this shop.  It's excellent.

I second that.  Steve Brugger at Erie Ultimate Angler is an awesome guy and is a heck of fisherman.  They run a lot guided trips on elk and walnut.  Give them a shout.
