Hello all,

As I am back at WVU for schooling, it was brought to my attention that there is a moderately healthy hybrid striper population near campus.  I have never fished for these guys.  I have tried tossing my articulated streamers(only one joint) with some sinking line at them so far around dusk near the tail water of a small lock and dam with no success.  I have managed to find many large and small mouth but would like to target the new species. I am open to any and all thoughts?

Clousers and other minnow imitations that match the size of the baitfish.  Articulated streamers will likely work, too, if they are the right size.  You may just need to find the schools.  And topwater will work, too, though probably more in the dawn and dusk of summertime.

As the weather gets hotter, they'll get down deeper. The lake where I fish landlocked stripers and hybrid bass is impossible to fish on the fly during the summer as the fish are 30-50' down. Early spring and mid-fall (October-ish) are when you'll find them on top water.

I agree in a lake.  Sounds like he's talking river though....

It is a river.  Thanks for the feed back so far.  Sounds like brown and white streamers with some sink tip is my best next attempt.  The river is betwen 6 and 18 feet if I had to make ad educated guess.  If they dont work, might have to wait till next season.  I have already spent my fly tying this year on articulated ones for trout, they opened my eyes to winter trout fishing.
