Dc license scam?

I just received an email from what appears to be the DC e-permit office saying that the fishing license I bought (almost a year ago) was not processed properly and they request that I pay them again. Has anyone else run into this?

I just got the same message too a few minutes ago.  I'll have to check back in my records to see if payment was in fact never collected.  Either way, I suspect they'll lose out pretty big on this one and hopefully fix the issue before the first of the year.

I don't think it's a scam, I logged on to the epermit site and they had the same message posted.  I repaid for my permit.

I got the same (actually, I even got a duplicate about ten minutes later), and checked all my credit card statements and could not find any charge from DC DOE.

Safest way to figure out if it is real is to log in without clicking a link from the email, but to just go there directly via a known, legitimate link (e.g. google search it). As Bob said, same message exists when logging on legitimately. Generally, that's your best bet in any situation where you're concerned about the validity of an email.

Well, they definitely want their money pretty bad, I have gotten the same duplicate message 5 times in less than one hour which I think officially qualifies as cyber-stalking.  I'll check the records and pay up as necessary.  I have to pay for my Alaska license today anyway!

Dan, my skills of deduction are informing me that you are planning to fish up there with the Caribou?  Man, I need to try a spey rod some time (but without having to pay for it -- I'm kind of a cheap, angry-idiot)

Are you guys doing the Fletcher's Try-n-Spey again at some point (not to be confused with Bob Barker's try-n-spay)?  I'm free on Sundays -- I got kicked out of the last church we went to there in old town.  They weren't receptive to my radical views on Vietnam.  

Also I was stealing boxes.

I checked all my statements and it appears DC did NOT actually charge me. So I paid (already debited the 13 bucks in my check register some months ago).

Ignorance of not being charged the fee is no excuse from following the law. You may have been fishing illicitly. Otherwise known as poaching.

This is could be an opportunity for the same D. C. officials to follow up with you on the water and collect a more rewarding payment.
