Friends - Its been about 4 years since I've had this chance.  My kids and wife are at my inlaws for the weekend and I have the car. Any advice, suggestions for where to fish? I would like to try for trout, still never caught one on the fly, but just excited to fish somewhere AND catch something there.  Happy to wade and drive a bit (no need to drive forever though). Given schedules and transportation options, I've been fishing 4MR, Fletchers, Duck Pond, Tidal Basin over the last 4 years.

Thanks for the help and advice!
Patrick

Patrick,
this might be near the drive forever end of the continuum. The 2-mile trout catch and release area of the South River passes through downtown Waynesboro. It is spring-fed.

Fish it early in the morning or very late in the afternoon. Give South River Fly Shop a shout and they can advise you on the finer details.

I fished the South two weekends ago. If you fish the Constitution Park area there were some rainbows.

Ridgeview Park is okay. There’s also bass, bluegill, and chubs.

If you’re going that far Back Creek/Mill Creek in Bath county is an option.

There’s always Mossy Creek and those big browns.
