Just trolling, crowd-casting if you will, for opinions regarding relative safety of attending the FF show in Lancaster this coming weekend.

Been looking at sundry pandemic dashboards and it appears things aren't much different in Lancaster County, PA than in Montgomery County, MD.

Feel free to pile on here, folks.

Mark IMO there’s a bunch of things to factor into this or any plan: Are you vaccinated? Boosted? Do you have any underlying health issues? Do you live with anyone who does? Have you had COVID already? How recently? Do you plan on wearing a mask? Keeping your distance?

Generally speaking, this is the best time to do something like this since March 2020.

Vaxxed and boostered. Aside from overweight (the covid #19), no other health underlying or otherwise issues. I'll have masks with me and will keep a respectful distance. Thanks Sean.

Mark, my only addition would be to use an n95 if you want to be extra cautious.

I may go up on Saturday, but I haven't decided.  I am expecting a lot of unmasked people but plenty of people with masks.  These types of crowds are where it really makes sense.

I will be exhibiting at the Maryland show on the 19th and don't have any concerns about that one.

I'm not a huge fan of the Lancaster show.  There are a lot of bigger exhibitors. A few demonstrations at the casting pond and some good fly tiers, but the smaller vendors/used gear is priced out of the hall.  If you've never been to a big, fancy show, it's definitely worth the trip.

The Maryland fly fishing show has been moved from Towson to Aberdeen this year.  While Aberdeen is a bit further,  the venue is bigger and should be easier to get in and out of.  It will have a lot more used and vintage equipment, and probably good deals on old fly boxes that are filled with flies (I know some people who stock up on flies by buying old fly boxes at these events)

I have the same view as Carl.  Given the 2 shows, I will go to the MD show later in the month and go fishin' this weekend :-)
But if I did go to the lancaster show - I would mask up…

Pretty much no one was wearing masks at the virginia show last month.  That was when omicron was still roaring.

When I live in Easton, PA I did the Somerset show for years until '99. College Park down here for a couple, 3 yrs. Did Edison 2 years ago -so bit it just about requires you to ovenight. Lancaster since 2010? 2012? has been an easy reach from MoCo and I go to dumpster dive in the retailers distressed/discontinued merchandise containers, as well as say hi to a number of tyers. Its scale is fine with me. I'll perhaps make the Maryland show, but that's a big "maybe/if" as my oldest daughter is serving up our first grandson around that time. ;-)
