Brad, can I ask what you change when you go for stripers vs shad in the Occoquan? I like launching my paddleboard at the kayak launch under the 123 bridge, but have never considered going for stripers there. Do you go downstream, or is it a matter of just fishing the right type of fly/lure in the same spaces? Thanks!

I was honestly targeting LMB, but have been catching a decent amount of stripers while doing so. I'm fishing downstream from the regional park boat ramp and have had success from the ramp all the way down to Belmont Bay. Stripers seem to love the Alabama Rig traditional tackle wise. Not caught so many on fly as I havent been fly fishing for bass that often recently, but have gotten a few on clousers and game changers.
