Sheepshead on the fly and I was told it couldn't be done.  Come on down to Florida the fishing is great.

Sweetness. I've heard they're darn near impossible to get on the fly. The folks in Jax have their best luck with them when they're tailing in the grass.

Awesome fish. What'd he take?

I'd love to give a shot at them in VA waters but would not know where to start. Some guys using bait get into some bruisers around the CBBT.

Way to go.  I fish the marshes of SC for Reds and see a fair number of Sheep.  Most are tailing and I've had a few actually move towards my fly in a manner that they may eat it to only turn their noses up at the last moment.
I "caught" one this year, I was pursuing a red in the grass that disappeared on me.  I flipped my fly line off to my left so I'd have a water haul when the red reappeared.  While  looking for the red, my line started feeding out of my red.  I thought the red had picked up the fly so I set the hook.  After about 5 minutes of fighting a nice red, I see the stripes of a 6lb sheep.  He had swum through my line and I foul hooked him in the pectoral fin.  Given the weed guard I use, I was surprised that I foul hooked him.

If you don't mind, what did you fly look like.
Thanks,

John
