Hi all,

I'm not new to the DMV, but I'm new to fly fishing! I've got some beginner gear, been to the casting church a few times, and had some lessons... Just looking to make some local friends so I can start getting out there and getting some experience (I come into this with no fishing background of any kind).

Welcome, Jesse! 

The water is low and clear on the rivers at this point of the summer, which can be a challenge for smallmouth, but members of this crew are lighting it up on C&O Canal for carp and in local ponds and lakes for panfish (which are excellent fish for honing your trout set). 

Consider coming to the Beer Tie at Colony Grill if you haven't yet -- that is often an overlapping group from casting church and there is no pressure to tie (or drink beer / eat pizza).
