Beth worked on this riser for about 45 minutes and finally got him to take a dry in a tricky spot, and managed to land him without a net.  I'm proud beyond words!

Best one of the trip for sure.  We've had excellent fishing all week in the park (RMNP) and further north along the Poudre.  I'll post a report once I get a chance.

This place is a small stream paradise.

Hey bud,

Great cutty.  Were you guys in the park (Roosevelt) or outside closer to Ft Collins?

Hey Rich!  I'm not sure -- we were on 14 west of Ft. Collins at the Joe Wright creek where it dumps into the lake.  She stuck that "lucky fly" (basically her take on a CDC comparadun with a black CDC wing) into the urban hat.

I got some grayling in there, but I'll put that up hopefully this weekend --

I was looking at the cuttie and trying to figure out exactly which subspecies of cutt it was.  Very cool fish.

Can we use the photo?  Or maybe post it on Facebook?

Sure Rich -- she doesn't mind at all.

We thought it was a CRC (just regular CO cutthroat) but are open to suggestion -- I know the genetics are dicey with cutthroat in CO from what I read.  To be honest we mostly went there because this forest service map we picked up on 14 said "grayling" and I thought it might be neat to catch one of those weird fish without having to go to Alaska.  I wasn't thinking that either of us would catch a good trout in there....that was bonus!

We're chilling now outside of Denver, so I'll log in a report here shortly I think if the Wi-Fi holds up.
