Any idea whether the Jackson might fish well this weekend?

Hi everyone,

With the slightly-warmer-than-freezing temps expected over this coming three day weekend, I'm considering venturing farther away than normal to fish, and am considering the Jackson.

Any idea if it would be worth the drive this time of year? I've read that you can catch big bows above the lake in the winter/early spring, although it might be too early for that. If I do go, should I instead focus on the tailwater section? Are there any online resources or fly shops you know of that are particularly knowledgeable about the Jackson? Maybe Abermarle Angler?

I'll warn you that I have not taken my meds today, but how do you catch big rainbows when casting above a lake?

That's why its called fly fishing. I actually had a fish jump out of the water and hit my bug before it landed.

You know, this forum has a pretty high tolerance for general idiocy.  

Ashley -- I'm jealous, as I haven't been to the Jackson since the time I got stranded on the other side and may or may not have summited the steps of Gathright in full waders.  I have had a couple of really fun days there working various soft hackles through the likely areas.  I wouldn't shy away from hitting it this weekend in the least if it is nice outside, and if I didn't have a 2-month old, and absolutely no energy or patience for anything.  

Earlier our toaster burned my bagel one too many times, so it's now dented and laying in the backyard to die from exposure.  Lack of sleep does things to you --

Did you guys hit the Jackson this past weekend?

I hit the upper section the weekend before last. It fished pretty well; got ~5 stocker bows, 1 brown, ~5 brookies, and a wild bow. All in all, though, I don't plan to go back until there are some significant hatches.
