I will be renting a boat over at fletchers later today hopefully by noon and fishing until around 7 tonight or until they close.  If anyone wants to join me in the row boat, please let me know by replying back.

Been out since around 7am on a boat. Bite was good until 9:30 then bite slowed down. Probably approx 20 fish landed between 2 of us with at least that many lost.

Where were they biting in the waterway and with what colors?  I've been hearing that they have been hitting at reds and pinks more than the chartreuse and whites.

Started straight out from Fletcher's on edge of channel. I was using chartreuse fly, buddy was using red. I was outfishing him 4:1 so he switched to chartreuse and started catching just as many and we haven't switched.

Things slowed down around. 9:30 so we move downstream a bit. Fishing is still slow (11am) but we found a few if we fished slower and deeper.

ESPN live, fishing style. Sounds like a better day then sitting in the office.

Thanks,

Now if only we could live stream action from the rowboats...

12:45 and still catch hshad on chartreuse but the wind has picked up making fly casting tricky. Seems the 2 sizes of hickories. The 16" which are fun on a 7weight and there are the 18" which are in a league of there own.

So I finally got there between 1:30 and 2PM until they closed up at 6 PM.  Luckily since I take the metro to the Rosslyn station and bike from there, the street delays were not an issue.  I did pretty well with 11 hickories and lost two others. Six to seven of them were in the first hour.  I was using a double rig with a heavier closer style fly for the extra weight and a lighter more "traditional" shad dart style about 1 1/2 ft/ behind that.  What was interesting was that all the hook ups were on the the lighter shad dart except for the one time that I lost my shad dart without realizing it.  The only reason I stuck around with the duel system was that I thing the extra weight really helped.

Has anyone heard an update on today? My dad is out there now and not catching much.  Hasn't seen anyone else catch much either. We're planning on going again tomorrow morning.  Anyone else going?

I'll be there by mid-morning tomorrow.  Still trying to convince my older son to play hooky and join me.  So far, he's refused.

I went back after work today and fished off of the shore just upstream of Fletchers between 6:30 and 8PM.  Decided to try out using spinning rod instead of a fly rod and caught about 8 hshad.  While if was fun and I had a lot less issues than I would have had with my back cast in the trees, I still prefer the fly rod.  I did forget to mention that two of the largest hshad I caught yesterday was on probably on the ugliest fly I have ever tied.  That either shows that they will bite anything or that my fly was so ugly that they had to kill it.
