Project Healing waters-comparable

Have friend whose child has brittle bone disease and is wheelchair bound.  He has an interest in learning to fly fish.  Suggestions on wheel chair accessible locations in the DMV.

Hunting Run Reservoir in Spotsylvania has some docks thank might fit the bill.  Not sure how good the fishing is from the docks though. 

Would this be a good case for a canoe or tandem kayak?

The Tidal Basin, Constitution Gardens, and Anacostia Park (also has an aquarium) in the city.

Lakes Anne and Audubon in Reston.

Cook Lake in Alexandria.

Burke Lake in Fairfax by the VDGIF ramp.

Occoquan Regional Park by the restaurants.

Fountain Head Regional Park on the Occoquan Reservoir is another place to look. They have a 250-foot fishing pier.

I don't have any immediate locations (I'm looking for one for our Project Healing Waters Group too).  I would plan April, May, June for Bluegill when they are on their beds.  It ends up being much better. 

If they don't mind driving a bit, I hear there are some good locations in Pennsylvania and that the boat commission does a good job funding some of these projects.  No personal experience, but that's what I've heard.

I think that the Rose River Farm has some wheelchair accessible points. Yo might drop them an email.

Rose River Farm definitely has wheelchair accessible points.  They host PHW events there very often.

Another option is Doublespur Outfitters, which recently added a wheelchair accessible dock similar to RRF.

There is a wheelchair accessible location at Morgan Run...and the redesigned Cook Lake has a paved trail, a couple of wide wood bridges, and is accessible at numerous places.
