While Casting Church returns on Sunday, March 9, with SHADFEST 2025, TPFR will welcome a guest tier on Monday, February 10, for our monthly Beer Tie at the Colony Grill in Clarendon at 7 p.m. Josh Schaaf will guide intermediate and advanced tiers through several variations of the Chromatic Peanut.

The Chromatic Peanut is a modernized version of the OG Circus Peanut from Michigan streamer legend Russ Maddin. It evolves that classic using a brush head and updated materials to give enhanced potency to an already killer pattern. They are extremely effective for big trout and large smallmouth, especially on intermediate and sinking lines.

About Josh Schaaf
A former Wisconsinite, Josh grew up learning the ways of the dark side - gear fishing for walleye and pike in the rivers and lakes of the Badger State. After moving to Virginia, his grandfather put a fly rod in his hands and Josh converted to the challenging rewards of throwing big flies on heavy rods.
When not tying 8” flies, planning his next jungle foray, or professing his love for bronzebacks to any who will listen, he can most often be found at [redacted] on the [redacted] River.
