Hello,

I was planning to take my dog and Girlfriend to Harper's Ferry (On Saturday) to explore the historic sites and also hike up to Maryland heights.

I also wanted to fish from that rock shelf you can see from google earth on the VA side where the Shenandoah empties into the Potomac, but I saw that there are no parking signs all over 340. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

About  5-6 years ago, there were several actual parking spots off route 340 as it crossed the Potomac from Maryland from in to West Virginia. Things could have changed since then. So so those parking areas may no longer exist

Last time I was through there, in the fall, the parking spaces on Harpers Ferry Rd on the Maryland side upstream of the bridge had been closed off.

Thanks I found that getting there early and parking are the railroad station is the best you can get out there. many shoulder areas are not open for parking.
After I did all the sight seeing and touristy things, I managed to hook up 1 Walley and 4 red eye bass with a  big black wooly bugger. I hooked another larger walleye than pictured but it jumped and spat my hook out.
