Trent Jones (TPFR OG) and I headed out for our annual early morning striper hunt at Fletcher's.  Targeted specie along with the obligatory snagged gizzard shad acquired.
(Despite urban legend, gizzards do not eat flies.)

Gear:
  • 9 and 10 wt rods
  • 4-5ft 20lb leader
  • 350 and 400 grain full sinking lines  (worth the investment)
  • Large 5-6" Half and Halfs (2/0 and 4/0 hooks), tied with extra long hackle and extra large dumbells (extra heavy)
  • Celebratory Cuban cigars
