Any idea of the closest WV streams that hold cutthroats?

I know there are some in WV, but am having a hard time find details on the intergoogles. Do any other nearby states (PA?) have cutthroats?

They are a western fish, so don't expect them around here.

Rob, do you know if they are reproducing in the north branch or are available anywhere else within a day's drive?  It sounds like a fun road trip.

On the flip side, fishing for brookies out west is fun, since in many places they want you to eat them.  They make a great breakfast or lunch.

Having gone to school at WVU, a few friends and I hit the North Branch a fair bit.  Not as much as any of us wish we could have. haha.  I can confirm that the Cutbows (cutthroat and rainbow hybrid) do still exist in there.  Not sure if any true cutties still exist. In the 3 years a few us fished that river, I only ever found 2 cutbows (the group of us 4 or 5 found maybe 10).  Good luck finding them, they were cool looking fish.  Looked almost like a bow, just darker colors and little different markings.

So speak of the devil. Look what the MD fishing report email from today had to say: There is some exciting news for trout fishermen on the North Branch of the Potomac. Fisheries biologists recently stocked about 9,000 cutthroat trout fingerlings at several locations in hope that they will provide some fun fishing opportunities in the future.

Bout the same point of stocking bright-yellow "golden trout" or "paliminos" of whatever you want to call them into the North Branch. How any of those fish live more than a summer is an embarrassment to eagles everywhere.

I love seeing the gold ones.  Gives an interesting thought on what the fish are doing and how the react to casts and such. More of a learning tool for me than anything. lol.

In Utah they use a similar trout (though they might be true albino rainbows).  The purpose of these trout is to prove that the fish and game stocked the water, since many fisherman won't see the natural colored fish against the cobbled freestone bottoms. 

However the albino's there don't act like normal trout.  They are more like whitefish, hanging in deep holes and eating things off the bottom.  They don't seem to come up for a hatch.
