Does anyone have any awesome stories from either river?? I need a tie breaker to decide my weekend trip!

This time of the year i vote jackson. tail water will be same temp all year and can throw bigger bugs.

I haven’t ever fished the Jackson (this year maybe) because I didn’t want to deal with crazy rules and landowners. And I haven’t fished WV’s Elk River this time of year.

However, if you haven’t tried it, you should. The Elk is very nice water, with high numbers of rainbows and browns and it holds some very very big fish. The section I’m most familiar with is from Elk Springs resort, and downstream for several miles. Call the resort ((304) 339-2359‬) for conditions and recommendations. It’s a long drive to get there so I have always included an overnight at the resort.

Matt, you're welcome to attend a trip to the Jackson probably the 3rd week of April. That will be settled at the next beer tie in a week.
