The Monday following Casting Church, Monday 14 August will be our Beer-Tie at Colony Grill.

Come on out and meet your fellow anglers, bring your fly tying material and your fly tying questions.

Bring your fish stories.

Festivities begin at 7pm.

Board meeting at 6pm for TPFR board members.

Hi All,

I'm a long time angler but am very new to fly fishing (never been yet...but first trip will be soon), even newer to tying. I signed up for a class on the 5th at Murray's Fly shop in Edinburg and that will be my first time casting a fly rod. 

I heard about your group from Ryan at Vienna Orvis and I plan on making it to Casting Church and Beer tie this month. Any suggestions as to items I should bring for either event would be great.

For the Beer tie, is there a particular pattern that will be the focus? I have now tied a few Wooly Buggers and Clouser Minnows, but little else.

Welcome. I’ll be teaching the tying class at beer tie. I will have all tools and materials. If there is a fly pattern you want to learn or a technique please let me know so I can pack accordingly. 

I haven’t decided on a seasonal fly for this month.

Thanks Rob. I'm just learning to tie. Have only done a few patterns. I did catch my first fish on a fly rod today, and it was on the first fly (olive Wooly Bugger) I ever tied! Smallmouth on the Shenandoah.
