This is just an early reminder that the December TPFR BEER TIE is this Monday, December 8th from 7PM-9PM at Whitlow's on Wilson.  Details and directions to Whitlow's can be found here:  http://www.tpfr.org/events.htm

Doors and Bar opens at 6PM, and they don't kick us out until 10PM, so plan to come early and stay a while.

Rob Snowhite will be back in action at the learning table.  I will have quite a few raffle items and TPFRer Bruce Mathews has donated his entire Fly Fishing library for TPFR fund raising.  THANKS AGAIN BRUCE!!!!  A few of these will be put in raffle, but most I will sell for cash prices of $5, $10, and $20 depending on the value.  There are some pricey titles in this collection I can assure you, so be sure to hit the ATM on the way.

BEER TIE attendance through the summer and fall can be patchy, but December-April are the big ones, so plan to come to as many as you can.  Rob will be bringing a special guest to this one as well, so I'll let him fill you all in on that.

And since it is December, as always this will be our "Holiday Party" as well.  Looking forward to see you all there this Monday!

Attached is a sneak peak of Bruce's donated library.  All titles will be available.  "Lefty's Little Library" is a collectible, so I may set a high price on that one or make a grand prize for the raffle - not sure yet.  And yes, there's a Benchside Reference in there too - classic and essential text.  I paid $100 for mine years ago!

I will teach the Prince Nymph and then we will move on to feather earrings. If you have some spare funky feathers to add to the earring mix I would be grateful.

I'm hoping to get Steve from http://frogmanoutdoors.com to stop by and talk about FMO. His organization takes injured and disabled special operations command vets fishing.  And that striper on his site was caught locally on a rapalla!

See yall Monday

That's really a very generous gift for the club - I value books and refuse to read off of yet another "glowing rectangle" vs. the real thing.

Prince nymphs are a lot of peoples' favorite nymph -- they look like a swimming bullet to me if you leave off the white biots.

If I can find my chapstick, I'll be there!

Gene, go see the school nurse for Chapstick.

You'd be surprised at the size of bass that will eat a prince. I picked up eating hooks for anyone who wants to make a set of earring gifts. They fit right into a vise.

"I'm not gonna use hers, you sicko!"  ;)

I'm not surprised at all with small flies taking big fish -- I'm a small fly fan, hardcore.  I admittedly don't catch many big fish, but all the snakeheads, carp and larger bass I have caught have literally all been on flies from #12-8....though the carp flies I use I sometimes go up to a #6 hook.

You can take a handful of #10 marabou minnows with bead chain eyes (my fav) and catch fish after fish after fish in a lot of local streams -- I did it over at 4MR this Sunday for a couple of hours.  You have to rip off those little "non-webby" tips on blood marabou feathers though to get to the good stuff on many feathers. I do anyway. I also fought some wind with a glass rod for the 1st time and threw a nasty tailing loop I wish I could lie about.

The prince incorporates a soft hackle -- it's a winner!

Here is the pattern we will learn at the big table tonight: http://www.charliesflyboxinc.com/flybox/print.cfm?parentID=68

Can't wait for that Avalanche burger already!

Gene, if you make it, I have a Dermatone lip balm for you. Now go feed Tina!
