Does anyone know of any ponds to fish by float tube like 30 min from dc. i got a float tube last summer and used it on Roches run (bad idea) i want to use it more often this up coming season. Spots on the Potomac where a float tube is good to use. the time i did use it i only got a sunfish so if anyone uses a float tube on a pond or the Potomac give me any spots or advice.

If I had a float tube, I would use it at the outflow of Little Hunting Creek along the lily pad line for snakeheads and largies. I have a super secret spot (well... kinda, more like just a spot that lacks good accessibility) where I duck hunt and saw a lot of snakeheads along the lily pad lines during the early season split. No public launch there, but I'd imagine any of the tributary outflows into the Potomac where there are lots of lily pads would be a good place to start for snakeheads and largemouths.

PS. To put a face to a name, I'm the one who was fishing the side opposite you at the discharge on Saturday.

Ah, I don't hunt out that that blind but I do know the guy who owns it and hunted it once. Very productive spot during woodie season. My spot is down near Quantico. In any event, just about ever trib outflow from Alexandria down to Quantico has a ton of lily pads and would most certainty produce good fishing.

What went wrong at Roaches Run?  I've often thought how great a float tube could be to easily move around in there when it's too deep to wade across the middle.

Just out of curiosity, what was the problem with using the float tube at Roaches?

Float tube in roaches on outgoing tide is like a rubber duck in a bathtub with the drain plug pulled.
