Any suggestion on a good location to take kids fishing for the first time? I'm thinking of Lake Fairfax or Burke Lake, possibly River Bend Park. These seem to have open areas for fly casting, but do they present a good chance to catching fish at all? like sun fish? Any other suggestion?

I find that small ponds work the best for kids. Burke lake at the dam would be a good choice.

Lakevale in Vienna is another solid place. Lots of room for backcasting and fairly easy to catch bluegill once the water warms up.
