Roaches Run Access by Bike

Hey all,

I'm new to fishing in DC, and am limited by the fact that I don't have a car. Recently I've been biking from my house in DC to Four Mile Run (on the Mt. Vernon Trail, which goes right by Gravelly Point). I'd like to mix things up and fish the duck pond, but it looks like the only access point is the parking lot off the GW Parkway, and it seems like there isn't any way to get there except on the parkway. I'm considering locking my bike up at GP and crossing the parkway on foot, somewhere near the culvert. Does anyone make this crossing when they're fishing between the two spots and don't want to move a car? Any advice is appreciated.
