Hi All,

I will be down in New Orleans in late October with two other friends. Does anyone have some guide recommendations for around that area?

Thanks in advance,

Will

Hey Will,

I always use Greg Moon of Louisiana Fly Fishing Charters. Unfortunately, you're asking about the most popular time if the year, which books up well over a year in advance with all the decent guides and most of the bad ones too. I'd shoot him a note asking if he knows of anyone that still has availability. You may get lucky and find someone has a day or two open from a cancellation.

Jeff

I did Paradise Outfitters in Las Burris I think it was. It's pretty all inclusive guided spin tackle outfit but if you decide to bring your own fly rod gear they'll let you have at it. All my standard Bonefish shrimp and crab patterns pretty effective. I think we went in May or June of last year had a hell of a day.

I've done Bayou Charters, http://captaincharlie.com/, a few times, awesome Captains/staff, just double check fly gear if you go this route.

I fished down there for my bachelor party last Summer--the winds, clouds, and hangover all conspired against my catching ability. Our guide, Rocky Thickstun, was good and certainly showed us some big fish that we couldn't connect with--but he used quite colorful language to say the least.

In our crew bachelor party crew, the guys who landed big reds fished with Lucas Bisset and Dave Best--I think Capt Dave is a minister and may have quite different dialogue than Rocky.

John Nguyen (vietfisher on here) recommended Gregg Arnold to us, and he's caught a ton of fish with him, but he was out of town the weekend we were there.

Good luck, I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

To add on to Dalton's note... Greg Moon, Rocky Thickstun, and Lucas Bisset all work together. I've fished with all of them, and they are all top notch. They're constantly on the radio giving each other real time intel, so it's almost as if you're covering three times as much water when you fish with them. Greg has put me on multiple 20+ fish days where the smallest fish was 20 lbs, and Rocky got me a shot at a fly rod world record fish that he estimated at 55lbs after the fact (of course I blew the cast). All three of them love the "colorful" language and jokes as Dalton put it. Sometimes Gregg Arnold joins, but not nearly as often. I did fish with Dave Best one time, and he's a super nice guy and works incredibly hard to put you on fish, but he doesn't know the water nearly as well as the others.
