Miami area tips

I am going to be in Miami/Hollywood area the end of the month and was wondering if anyone had tried do it yourself fly fishing from shore?  Perhaps good cuts or beach?  Also Largemouth in lakes would be an option.

The best bet and easiest option is to pick out any bridge on the Intracoastal Waterway after dark.. Primary target will be snook (sometimes too big to handle) but there are also small tarpon, lady fish, and mangrove snapper there, facing into the current  at the slight / shadow line.  Some bridges are better than others and at different tides, but that's my best advice (Lived in Ft. Lauderdale for 17 years),..

Maurice Gibb Park at eastern end of Venetian Causeway (north side) where it touches Miami beach is a great spot for snappers, grunts, barracuda and whatever is around.

I am also going to Miami at the end of January for a family event. Staying at Vizcaya, on the water is on the water, anyone know if fishing Is doable or good at Vizcaya? Since it is a family event anything more than an hour or 2 or driving will be frowned upon by all parental and sibling units.

You are 10 minutes from Coconut Grove where the Miss Britt docks next to Monty's restaurant.  I took several charters out with Miss Britt during my 6 years in Miami.  First class operation.

I was born and raised in Miami (Pinecrest) and go back to visit my parents a couple times of year. While it is a little cool right now, I recommend driving around and stoping at canals along the road looking for peacocks, largemouth, bluegills, Carp, snook, tarpon, and other exotics (we have lots of them). Best bet is to target clearer water around culverts, even better if the water is moving. A lot of times you can see fish but if not, try throwing chartuse Closures, glades minnows, and any other streamers.
