My house faces south and when it warms, we get these guys all over our garage and windows. Wasn't a problem until the dog puked up about 9000 of them.

Any idea what they are, if they are harmful and how to get rid of them?

It's a boxelder bug. They hang out and reproduce in -go figure- boxelder trees, those ones with the helicopter seeds. Do you have any of those on your property? If so, your best bet is to oil up the chainsaw and get to work...

No real harm in them, other than dog vomit. Infestations of these things are seasonal. It will pass.
