Carderock yesterday and today

I fished the Carderock area yesterday and had a wonderful day catching about 2 dz smallmouth  mostly on streamers and clawdads. The sun was out and the water super clear, which didn't stop the fish from eating. Today I went back and the river was on the rise with abit of stain and also overcast. Figured it would be a banner day but I was skunked. Can't figure out what turned the feed switch off???

I fished for smallies on the Suquehanna and had some pretty good luck on Saturday, but havent fished the Potomac in a while. Were any of the fish you caught near Carderock of any size?

Best was probably 14". I did see a couple of big girls cruising around. A guy spin fishing upstream caught a 19 and a 20 in 2 consecutive casts.

Howdy gang,

Where in the Carderock area would you recommend fishing?  I'm always looking for good spots that I can reach without much effort.  Thanks so much!

Walk the Billy Goat trail and get a feel for the water. You'll find spots.

That's great to hear. Sounds like there are some good fish around.  I may need to get otut there and check it out...
