Hi all,

I'm new to the group and relatively new to fishing the area (got a few days in at Fletcher's late last summer, well after the various runs had wound down).

I just saw on the Fletcher's Boathouse Facebook that they'll be open for licenses (and potentially boats) this coming Saturday.  I was going to hold off on my first outing for a few more weeks in hopes of warmer weather & water, but seeing pictures of the year's first shad, along with warm(ish) temperatures in the forecast for the weekend and, well ... I'm hearing the call of the river.

Having just found the group, I wanted to see if anyone else was planning on being out and might be willing to share a few pointers over a cup of coffee, or if y'all had any tips for early-season fishing.  I'm only equipped with a fairly humble spinning set-up at the moment, though I should be united with my long-neglected fly gear later in the season.

If anyone from Fletcher's happens to read this, is 7:00am the earliest time for licenses?  (Or, given the late, cold temps this year, would the afternoon be a better bet anyways?)

Thanks!
Patrick

You can also get a license on line (google DC fishing license) - less lines, no waiting!

Fletcher's will be open on Saturday.  I'll be opening at 7am, maybe a little earlier.  The afternoon may be a better time to fish this weekend anyway as the water temperature will tick up a couple degrees over the course of the day.
