Congrats to Alex Binsted who caught the first reported Hickory Shad of the 2014 season off The Point today at 2:15 PM.

Alex got two hickories and several hits. I managed to get one hit, two big leaf clumps, one stick and three rocks in deep water. He tricked me into casting from the worst position possible, yeah that's why....

I'm surprised no body asked the following question (so I'll go ahead and ask) -

"What color was the fly?"

The "fly" wasn't a fly. It was a dart used by spin fishermen. Of whose ranks I've recently rejoined for certain situations found on the river during select weather conditions. See my recent post on this.

As a famous bromide goes "if it ain't chartreuse, it ain't no use". Or some similar limey/greenish yellow color.
