So I was walking to work the other day and passed a recently deceased grey squirrel (I think it had a heart attack when it realized there was more snow coming).  On my way home, I checked back and the body was still there.  After a short trip home and back, I I'm sure was observed chopping off the tail of a dead squirrel with a cleaver right off the street in NE DC.  So now I am officially either a full fledged fly tier or a nut case that takes things too far.  I'm hoping the former, but probably a bit of both.

I sure we can all relate.  I know I have done similar things before.

Ha!  Ironically, there is an article on this very subject (harvesting road kill) in the current issue of Fly Rod and Reel.  Make sure and salt that thing reel good and put it in the freezer for several days to kill any hitch-hikers.  I suppose you could count being outside yesterday as one of the "freezer days"!
