Unfortunately I was only able to fish for 15 minutes. An insanely aggro cop with the worst Napoleon complex approached me and would not accept my digital PDF version of my fishing license which is clearly linked to my drivers license which I presented to him. He stated I must have some incredible computer skills as I could have created it on photoshop or something like that.
I was then frisked. He ran through my pockets and emptied the contents of my bag and finally escorted me to my bicycle and asked me to leave.
Somehow I was able to get out of a ticket. Hope no one has to deal with that dude ever.
I thought this was a free fishing week- the DDOE website states June 1-9 you don't need a fishing license; it's tied with the Nathional Fishing and Boating week. So you shouldn't have had to produce a license. Guess that only matters if you were ticketed but that doesn't help the fact the officer ruined a good day of fishing.
Or maybe I just misunderstood the website...

You’re correct in that it’s free to fish in DC this week until June 9th.
I called the District 1 Park Police station and reminded them that it is not unlawful to fish in DC without a license this week.
