My son is new to the area. Will be looking for some fly-fishing opportunities (trout or smallies) within 1 hour or so from DC. Thanks much.

You’ll find smallies all day long in the Shenandoah river. I primarily fish the North Fork. You could start by fishing at Shenandoah State Park.
