So how's the water in the C&O Canal from Violettes down to Pennyfield ? Thinking about putting my boat in there for some bluegill fishing before it gets too damn hot on Sunday.

Did you get out?  I was out walking the dog at Pennyfield and there was plenty of water in the canal.  A bit "off color".  Not really muddy, but the visibility was low and you couldn't see the bottom.

I did indeed paddle and fished from Violettes to Pennyfield and back. All the canal gave up was 4 bluegill on a little yellow popper. I didn't even see carp in the off color - clarity was better at Violettes which I think tells us that the river is clearing. Potomac did look good. My thinking is wet wading at Harpers or Weverton if the gage keeps dropping.
