I will be in Idaho and Montana in late August and was considering fishing Hebgen Lake for gulpers i've read so much about.  Any advice or recommendation for either guides or DIY (ie, boat, float tube rentals) would be appreciated.  I will be staying in Last Chance, ID and Big Sky, MT and can get to Hegen from either location.  Time permitting I may also fish Henry's Fork and/or Madison while in Idaho although I have already fished both several time over the years.  I Montana will fish the Gallatin River near the Big Sky Resort.

Again, any advice or recommendations will be appreciated.

If you like medium stream fishing and solitude one of my favorite streams is Big Sheep Creek Montana which is between Last Chance and Big Sky. You probably won't see anyone else there fishing and the 12-16 inch browns (some larger) will take a dry fly readily.

Dave Williamson is a fantastic guide in that area.  Not sure if he has connections with other shops but myself and some buddies have always booked him through Wild Trout Outfitters in Big Sky.  I've been wanting to experience the gulper fishing too, hopefully one day!
