Last night I was looking at this weekend's weather and was pleasantly surprised to see non-ice fishing weather!  With this in mind, I am guessing I am not the only one who will be trying to get out to wet a line...I'll probably be the only one in the skunk category...

I'm going to stay local and get back out on Burke Lake (if it's ice free enough).  I hit it with Scott S. a while back.  Had one hit and view of a fish, but that was enough to get me back out there.  Depending on how much I want to get done around home, I may instead head to the shenandoah to see if I can get any winter dry fly action.

What's everybody else up to?

Unfortunately, I'm going to be in PA helping my parents replace their kitchen floor! Go get 'em!

Gregg, let me know if you are able to sneak out of work a bit early tomorrow - I'm gonna make a run to a trout stream that I haven't fished in forever.  Since you work near me it would be fairly convenient, shoot me a text if you're interested.

Misha and I thought about chasing muskies somewhere but not sure if there are still ice chunks flowing down from the headwaters where we planned to fish. So we're heading east and doing a pickerel float (and will hopefully have a good report afterward).

Sunday I'm not sure if I'll fish (probably) but that night I will be watching NickFoleon Dynamite and the Eagles try to take down the Vikings.  I don't have a good feeling about that, so it better be a good fishing weekend to preemptively ease the pain...

Planning on hitting up the discharge on 4MR on Sunday. Looking forward to the bleach shower after.

Like you, I was watching the weather all week and waiting for the weekend.  I picked up a new sidescan unit for the kayak and have been dying to try it.  Gonna run down to the Potomac tomorrow (Sunday) to test it out and see if I can find any willing fish.  Taking the 10wt with my triple density line to get down deep when needed.  If I get anything worthwhile I'll throw it up here on the board.

Planning to try winter pickerel fishing. Have never done that around here nor fished for pickerel in winter anywhere. Any advice on locations, techniques, flies much appreciated.

Well, Misha and I are still trying to figure it out...caught nothing during our float working all types of cover and different parts of the river we were on.

I got a handful of small trout this weekend, the largest being a 6" brookie from a Catoctin Mountain headwater stream.  Nice to finally get out on the water - no complaints here, but looking forward to some more consistent action and warmer water.
