Anyone fished Accotink or Holmes lately?

They stocked them Oct. 14th - been about a month. Wondering if anyone has been out. I may head to one or the other for a quick trip this weekend.

I fished Holmes this morning, and got skunked - other than a few bluegill. It was my first time fishing the place (I won't be back; I'll just drive 30 mins longer to beaver creek next time I want to fish for trout close to home). I saw zero signs of trout life. They've got to be there, though. I fished from about a mile downstream of the dam to the dam. Water flows were decent, although the water was quite dark.

That creek is notoriously dark, thin film of algae from being a tail water. Wonder how much darker Holmes is from the leaf tannins as Accotink looks tea stained from 495.

I persinally think the fishing there (Holmes run) is great and usually manage about 6-7 trout every time I hit it.

Early this spring I caught trout (unexpectedly) on leftover shad flies on FAR lower accotink....so yeah, they hold over to some degree on both streams I imagine.  

I'm certain they're in Accotink, but probably just in the upper sections I don't make it up to as much.

Yeah man, at both accotink and Holmes run. based upon my observations the trout at accotink are holed up in areas that people without waders can't reach. This is probably due to increased pressure. Try to hit bends and cutouts in the bank. I'd reccomend a pair of waders and some Costa's.
