Thanks everyone for the great turn out last night at Beer Tie.

Mike Bailey from Friends of Fletcher's Cove (FFC) shared the plans of phase one of this project, to sample sediment and rock for the possibility of relocating this material. Mike also shared the unfortunate news that several inches of sediment was dumped by last weeks high water, likely making the boat ride from the dock to the main river current even more untenable this season. FFC also raised a little money from the limited edition, Binsted-tied fly kits, which are still available on their website or a $50 or more donation, these include six well tested shad flies and one sweet looking striper fly. Please go to their website and consider donating today.

In addition to this, we would like to solicit donations of shad flies for FFC's fundraising efforts going forward. We will be collecting these flies at the March 14 Beer Tie, where we will also be raffling off a St. Croix Imperial rod and other items to be named with all proceeds going to FFC (shoot me an e-mail if you'd like to contribute items). If you can't make it to this Beer Tie, we can try to coordinate fly collections before this date or I can send you my address to mail flies.

Thanks for all of your support for Friends of Fletcher's Cove, this money is going to a great cause to help restore one of the finest fishing locations in Washington, DC. And thanks to Mike Bailey for taking charge on this issue!

For idea's on patterns, check out the following links (and feel free to share more in this thread):
Miles' Shadillac
Rob Snowhite Flies
Shad Dart Fly

Griz also developed a world famous pattern years ago that mimics the standard dart, with fish hair tail, white chenille body and red cone head, but I don't think there is a tutorial online. Clousers with flashy colors and tied very short work great as well.

The next Beer Tie is coming up in about two weeks, on March 14, and we will be collecting flies for Friends of Fletcher's Cove. After the casting session today I plopped down and tied a bunch of Grizz's shad darts, and Davis passed along 25 of Snowhite's Shad Jigs. Check these out for some ideas.

In addition to the St. Croix rod that has been put up for auction, Carl Zmola has provided a 9' 4wt "Silver Bullet" for raffle at the March 14 Beer Tie.

I want to break my abstinence from raffle participation to win this sweet rod!!

In addition to this, Richie also let me know that we have 4 Fly Fishing Film Tour tickets up for raffle at the March 14 Beer Tie. Let me know if you have anything additional that you would like to donate. All proceeds will go to Friends of Fletcher's Cove.

Thanks for all of your support!
