I would just fish the gallatin. It runs right along the road and is a nice river. Fish tend to not be huge but are plentiful. Should be good hopper fishing.

I will be at Big Sky Resort 8/24 - 8/27 and have a 1/2 day guided wade trip on the Gallatin planned for 8/26. I have previously fished the Gallatin which flow near Big Sky. There is good access for miles all along the river. For info contact Gallatin River Guides in Big Sky.

Was just out there.

The canyon is beautiful, but has become a tough place to fish with crowds.

I'd do a double dry rig. Caddis, jagerbombs, spruce moths. Fish early, like before 10am. Otherwise head to smaller tribs and such.

I did a work trip to big sky last summer and it was fantastic.  I fished one day with a guide from Blue Ribbon Flies who are down in west yellowstone.  if you have a car i would recommend driving down there.  lots of options.  i fished the madison and it was easier water for me.  i also took a day and drove around yellowstone and had a blast.

west yellowstone is a cool town and it was an easy drive from big sky.
