The link above has spots labeled and parking identified.

If you have a kayak or paddleboard, I'd drive down to the outdoor archery range on Belvoir - the weed beds to the North of that point hold a lot of fish.

Pohick park across the way is also good.

If you keep looking on this forum, there are bunches of people saying where they are going and ask for people to join them.

Tight lines!

Mike, I just got back from out of town, maybe next time we can get out. I fished Pohick bay a few weeks back, do a search on the website you will see my post. If you have a kayak there is a great place across and to the left of the put in area where a creek comes into Pohick. I pulled out several large mouths out do the creek on a popper.

Thanks Vic and Terry, I appreciate it. The map is very informative.

Terry, I have two kayakes and an SUV with carries on top for both. I've spent a little time kayak fishing in Pohick bay on Ft Belvoir, spinning for LMB. Have not used a fly rod there yet or visited the weeds/grass mentioned across from the Archery Range. I know the area well..have hiked around the Bay a few times.

My primary interest is doing some wading and fly fisihing for SMB. I have been reluctent to do that without a partner due to safety concerns and not knowing the layout of the ground and water.  I noted the trip someone just made to Carderrock.something like that would be great I think, I really like SMB on a fly rod. Have done some of that, but not much. I have a 7wt rod I bought for SMB. I have other set ups too, a 3wt, a 5wt, a 6wt, an 8 wt and a 10 wt for salt water...yes, I do intend to get very serious about fly fishing from small trout steams to SMB streams to LMB on lakes to going after redfish, rockfish, etc. I mostly like the idea of wading and kayaking both fresh and salt water inshore....

Looking for freinds to hook up with as that is always more fun and safer too.

Anyone that fishes with me will find out that I am very considerate of others during such trips. I have no interest in competition and I always try to contribute more than expected... I just want to enjoy being in scenic places and enjoying nature while enjoying an activiy that like most, was taught to me by my beloved grandfather so long ago..

I work near Ft Meade, MD actually and am interested in after work fishing outings as well as on weekends. Next Saturday, I will be fishing with Mike Heck on the Falling Springs creek near Chambersburg, PA. I've been out with him once before and will be doing a couple half days with Mike this Fall. My 3wt is the weapon of choice with Mike.  He is an excellent guide for those that have not spent some time with him in the Valley from Chambersburg to Carlisle, PA. 5 stars in my opinion.

Lets see about hooking up sometime soon and thanks for the info Vic and the offer Terry..
