Fishing 4 Mile Run this Weekend

I went fly fishing a lot as a kid and decided to pick it up again. I was thinking about heading down to 4 Mile Run this Sunday, but does anybody think it'd be good fishing after the heavy rain we've had? If not, are there any other spots I could practice and have good chance of not getting skunked? I have a DC and VA fishing license and don't have a car, but I've got a bike. Thanks!

Absolutely. Easiest put in is the "boat ramp" at the end of Commonwealth ave aka Frank Mann Field.

I fish there quite a bit now and its a great spot for novice fly fisherman and you can catch a bunch of different species. caught this the other day ( pic) and also saw a gigantic snakehead swimming under the mt Vernon  bridge.

Question...  How far down toward the mouth of 4MR and the Potomac do you all normally go? I've found the portions along the bike trail as you get closer to the river to be really mucky and hard to wade through. It's like sinking through quick sand (also pretty gross). I have typically stayed on the other end closer to the water discharge.
