Hello Fly Rodders!

I just arrived to USA from Siberia. Does anyone do any fishing in DC area? I mean at Potomac, near center of city.

Thank you,
Konstantin Salavatov

Off topic.

I have an H2 7' 6" 3wt with downlocking reel seet, cut out exposed cork handle and slide ring.  Love the rod, hate the reel seat.

Looking for someone that does really nice custom rod work.  Would like new high quality custom reel seat and possibly grip.  Not sure what is involved.

Suggestions anyone?

Welcome Konstantin!  Lucky for you, a lot of people have asked similar questions on this forum!  You can actually search the records and you will have far more information than you would ever need :)

Spring, Summer and Fall are the best for the Potomac in DC, but you can certainly find active fish this time of year.  It will be cold and slow, but doable.  I tend to turn to musky, pickerel, and trout this time of year, but there is a 1-2 hour drive for most of these (not center of the city haha).

Hi Konstantin,

In  few months the Potomac will have an incredibly large run of American and Hickory Shad and you can fish the river at Fletcher's Cove Boathouse, usually walk upstream to the rocky areas, pick a rock, and cast a sinking line as far as you can! They are quite fun on a 6-8wt rod. I just got a 4wt Trout Spey that should be a blast for them.
