While waiting for the cocaine to wear off (or whatever cocaine derivative they use at the dentist's office) I decided to fish on the creek behind our place for a couple of hours before the T-storms.

The best thing is that I kicked up an American Bittern!  It's the first I've ever seen.  I would have snapped my rod in 1/2 and thrown it into the woods just to get a good picture, but they're so well-hidden you can't spot 'em until they're taking off.

Wow a brownie! I didn't know they put those in Accotink. It almost looks wild.

Actually, one of the rainbows was porpoising like a smallmouth bass -- really weird.  I was mostly wanting to play with that teeny sinking line and see if the bass were biting yet.

The bittern is haunting me.  Man I would have killed to get a picture!

Roughly where were you in relation to wakefield park's accotink creek access? I went yesterday and saw but didnt catch about 7 brownies.

Ashley -- I mostly fish the lower section (downstream of Braddock road) because I live down there and am more interested in the sunfish and small bass than trout.

After the spring stocking you should be able to find plenty of trout along the section you mentioned (the vicinity of wakefield park).

If you see Fred down there (picture) who has chosen to nest on a pile of beer cans, wave hello but don't get too close to his mate down on the water.  She hisses and bites.
