Thanks, guys. Any advice on wadable nearby spots that would have potential for decent-sized stripers this time of year? (Other than chain bridge)

Why not run up to the Yellow Breeches, Letort or Big Spring in PA. Closer than the Savage and the fly shop in Boiling Springs is supposedly open again (now owned by TCO).BTW, the Allenberry is under construction, so you have to access the Yellow Breeches from up above, hike down "the run", cross the creek and hike down on the other side if you want to get to the section near the Allenberry. It is maybe a 10min walk, so it isn't a big deal. Stop at the fly shop for the latest info.

Great suggestion, Carl. The rub, though, is that I'm too cheap to spring for a PA fishing license.

I fished antietam creek in waynesboro,pa (1-1.5 hr drive) at the confluence of the east and west branches last Sunday. Action was pretty decent and only saw one other fisherman. Waters still a bit low but the sustained rain last week had it reasonable. Water temps were pretty good. Got a decent brown on a size 14 Adams.
On google maps look up baker road waynesboro pa. There's a big parking lot 50 yards from the bridge.

I fished YB twice in august and the construction to Allenberry was going on. Parking down below the flyfishing museum (it's still open btw) by the tennis courts is still available.

I think the Allenberry closure is a bit newer due some construction by the new owners. The place has needed an update for a while. For anyone going, it's worth a try to see if the path is open. Supposedly the fly fishing museum is still there and open. However, even if the Allenberry parking lot isn't open, the river can still be reached from the top end.

Also, access to the breeches was pretty easy as the Allenberry is allowing fly fishermen to park by the tennis courts and walk straight to the water. There's a trail which leads past a utility shed at the south end of the property if you want to get away from the crowds right by the access point.

Aside from the idyllic location, the shop is pretty fantastic. Brad Bowen had been there the night before apparently so there were a bunch of fly tying stations set up for musky flies. Very upscale place. They also gave me some free pizza, so I left a happy customer. If you're in the area, definitely worth a visit.
