Burke Lake was noticeably fishier on Saturday than anytime I've been there in the last 5 years. I kayaked around for 3 hours and caught 6 species of fish on small clousers (bass, crappie, catfish, bluegill, pumpkinseed, and a juvenile (10") tiger musky (I'm assuming, I don't think there are any Northern Pike in the lake). Bluegills were big and numerous, and a surprising number of crappies (15+)). Catfish was about 3lbs, and a real rod bender. Fishing access down by the dam is great, kudos to Virginia Fish and Game.

Have to imagine what you caught was actually a chain pickerel, apparently there's a pretty good population of them in there... Congrats on what sounds like a great day of fishing!

I had a couple of people mention that it might be a chain pickerel, should have taken a picture. I didn't know they were in Burke, so gravitated to what I knew was in there. Thanks.
