If you go north, the Deschutes River Fly Shop in Maupin is great - very informative, full shop, and some great guides. early steelhead could be in the Deschutes, and the redside (rainbow) fishing can be quite good.....Lots of bank access on the Deschutes if you don't want a guide.

many thanks!I had found a link for them yesterday. Is that the Upper Deschutes they're on? Didn't know steelhead could run that early and was only expecting to chase after browns, rainbows, and brook trout. You, sir, just made my day a little better!

I will be fishing the lower Deschutes then for steelhead. You def don't need a guide to fish for redsides in Maupin. It's some of the easiest trout fishing I've done, but is a blast nonetheless. Maupin is worth the drive. Clackamas may also be an option, but isn't as good
