Next week I have taken some time off.  I am watching the weather and it looks like it will be good for taking a trip.  I will probably leave on Wednesday and come back on Friday.

There are a few things that I must consider. The weather is one, but the other part of that is the past weather.  How bad will the rivers be next week?  With that in mind I have come up with a few options.

Option #1:  I wouldn't mind hitting the South Fork of the Shenandoah River.  I am familiar with a few float trips there, familiar with catching smallmouth bass there, and know of the camping areas that I could use.  This is the trip that is favored by the other person that may go with me, but I question if the river will be okay next week.  I don't want to be on a high, cool, or stained river.  Obviously, I want to fish optimum conditions.

Option #2:  Virginia Beach.  This would mean fishing Rudee Inlet for Red Drum, Sea Trout, Flounder, and Blue Fish.  This would also allow me to his Lynnhaven Inlet and river.  This is a good option if the rivers aren't going to cooperate.  This is actually the trip that I favor but the other person favors the least.

Option #3:  Kiptopeake State Park:  Again, this is a good option if the rivers won't be right.  It would be another salt water trip.

Each option has its advantages.  Which option seems the best option?  Which trip would you take?

#2 because you can do #3 as well....the fishing possibilities down there are endless.

#1 is nice as you may have a shot at a 20" smallie but there is no comparison.

Good luck and we look forward to the reports.

Hit Assateague Island. Striper, blues, and bull black drum are all running in the surf right now.

The surf at Assateague is really rough - do you fly fish there?
